4(x – 1)2 + 9(y – 2)2 = 36 which is an ellipse centred at (1, 2). If CA makes an angle θ with the major axis, then

A ≡ [1 + CA cos θ , 2 + CA sin θ ]

CA2 (4cos2 θ + 9 sin2 θ ) = 36 and

CB2 (4sin2 θ + 9cos2 θ ) = 36 giving
